THE SOUND END-PIECE ®
"Symbolic" equipment in abdominal and respiratory physiotherapy, this exsufflation end-piece ensures a regulated increase in expiratory flow.
Air flow from the alveoli, bronchioles and finally the pulmonary bronchi, provoked and maintained by abdominal force, moves towards the trachea. After passing throught the narrowest part of the respiratory tract, the glottis, the air spreads into the larynx, pharynx and buccal area before leaving through the lips.
The "standard"
diameter of the opening of the glottis
is approximately 7.5 mm. The only means of regulating air flow
in order to make the flow easier is to use a tube to balance the
different pressures. This makes it possible to distribute them along
the greatest resistance, that is, the glottis and the mouth.
Once inserted in the mouth, the end-piece guarantees the suppression
of labial resistance, and thus plays a role in increasing the expiratory
air current. It also guarantees that the stimulation is activated
and maintained, thanks to its breating sound (20,000 hertz).
Characteristics
The
sound end-piece®
is made of non allergenic polycarbonate suitable for oral contact.
It is composed of tow parts :
* The buccal part (diameter 8 mm),
which responds to the requirements of guided expiration, without
resistance;
* The "sound" part, itself composed of tow outlets that ensure that, as the user breathes, a regular frequency of 20,000 Hz is maintained.
